About Me

Welcome to my page!

My name is Federico Ohannesian (Mr. Ohannesian or Mr. O as the students call me) and this is my first year (2019-20) teaching at Wright Engineering and Design Magnet! Although I began the year teaching a 6th grade self-contained classroom (all subjects), I will now be teaching Physical Education in addition to specialty advisory.

I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in South America, and came to the United States at the age of six, not speaking a single word of English (I am fluent in Spanish)! I have lived most of my life in the best city of all, Los Angeles, CA!

Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to work with a youth population, but wasn't quite sure where my exact path would take me. It wasn't until I arrived at California State University, Northridge, that I realized my passion for education. Having worked my entire young adulthood for the City of Torrance After School and Summer Camps programs, I decided to pursue and Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood. In post-graduate school, I completed one year of substitute teaching and one year of student teaching for LAUSD in the San Fernando Valley. After completing my two-year post-graduate program for my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, I continued substitute teaching (short and long-term), until I found my current home at Wright Engineering and Design Magnet.

My passions include soccer, snowboarding, surfing, guitar, singing, gaming(video and board), hiking, mountain biking, and traveling.

My goal in education is to shrink the achievement gap and empower students to achieve their absolute best, regardless of where they are born or who they are born to. I aim to create lifelong learners who will seek happiness by following their passions in this world. I believe that all children deserve an equal education and that is something which I will fight my entire life to achieve.

"Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family."
