Dear Parents and Friends of Orville Wright,

 

Tuesday May 13, 2008 begins school wide California Standards testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Every student goes into the testing period knowing his or her own personal numbers. Ask your child to share with you what their goals are for demonstrating academic achievement. It is important for students to be agents in their educational development.

 

You can support them in their efforts! Here are some tips:

 

1. Enforce bedtime rules (Make sure they are well rested)

2. Get students off to school with a good breakfast, a nutritional snack and praise and encouragement!

3. Make sure they come to school everyday on time.

4. At the end of each day ask them how they did. Be positive!

 

As we all know, how your child does on test does not define who they are. Orville Wright Middle/Magnet is proud that we provide a comprehensive educational experience that promotes the arts, fitness, character and community service for all students. It our goal however, that every student demonstrate mastery of grade-level standards on the California Standards Test as one measure of our schools success. We need our entire school community to make this happen. Last year we improved 22 points.
