CST Released Test Questions
Released test questions from the California Standards Tests (CSTs).

Each set of released test questions (RTQs) is representative of the various content areas measured by items on the California Standards Tests (CSTs). The documents listed below contain RTQs taken from portions of the CSTs from 2003 through 2008. Funding to annually add additional RTQs to the available sets of RTQs was eliminated from the state budget beginning with the 2009 Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program test administration.
In selecting test questions for release, the following three criteria were used: (1) the questions adequately cover a selection of the academic content standards assessed; (2) the questions demonstrate a range of difficulty; and (3) the questions present a variety of ways in which the standards can be assessed.
The academic preparation practices outlined in the Guidelines on Academic Preparation for State Assessments, posted on the California Department of Education (CDE) STAR Program Resources Web page, will facilitate the appropriate use of the RTQs. Appropriate uses of the RTQs include analyzing whether classroom assessments: (a) address standards with the same rigor as the state assessments; (b) adequately cover the academic content standards; and (c) present a variety of ways in which the standards can be assessed.
